Vice Chair Report
Dale Swanson reported on her experience with the county school board meeting and urged all take part in board meetings – we are a minority representing the majority. We need the minority to take a stand.
Secretary Report – Anna Yeisley summarized the last board meeting minutes accepted by FVP board.
Les Gabriel shared the Nominating Committee Report recommendation that FVP would endorse Congressman Dave Brat. It was suggested that we draft a letter and approach Dave Brat about a particular legislation that he supported (although the Constitution did not). Group voted to endorse Dave Brat (14 yea 2 nay).
It was recommended that we change wording of Quorum requirement from [D. Quorum "A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of twenty voting members in good standing]."
to [D. Quorum "A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of twenty per cent of voting members in good standing].
Membership Chair report – Charles Sulser – 3 new members for the year. Charles noted his appreciation that there are so many people who are willing to attend meetings, board meeting, and talk to elected officials – a free nation depends upon participation.
Charles also expressed his concern that our government is promoting a police state where law enforcement does not always know or is restricted by the Constitution. Participation by the citizenry is crucial to keeping government overreach in check.
